Dytecna Excels at DSEi

Last Updated: 16.09.2009

DSEi this year proved to be an excellent event for Dytecna. The event which was held on 8th – 11th September at the ExCel Arena in London gave Dytecna the opportunity to present their capability with the use of a new stand incorporating container systems beneath a secluded meeting room area.

The pre-show work paid real dividends as the stand was constantly busy with a series of meetings and gatherings from potential and existing customers, clients and partners who engaged with all areas of the business. Some key visitors were seen during the 4 day event highlights included:

The Chief Operating Officer of DE&S who met with Dytecna’s Managing Director and Marketing Director to highlight the UK MoD recognition of Dytecna as a key Defence contractor. This visit again emphasised the capability and credibility of Dytecna in the UK Defence market and the growing reputation the business has earned in the development and delivery of key projects and programmes.

A Director of Land Equipment also visited the Dytecna stand on day one to gain a greater understanding of the business and its ethics. It was pleasing to hear that our capability was being recognised at senior level within the UK MoD.

Wednesday saw a visit to the stand by the soon to be senior UK representative in Australia as Dytecna was chosen as one of the key business investors in Australia with our Melbourne acquisition and opportunities with the Australian Defence Department.

Dytecna also hosted a number of key overseas visitors and delegations from USA, Australia, South Africa, Sweden, France, Netherlands and Italy.

There is no doubt that business in Defence will be tough in the next few years and that only the best organisations who can offer capability, products, flexibility and value for money will prosper. The message from the show was clear, that Dytecna has all these attributes and has been recognised by many potential clients as an excellent supplier and partner. The key to Dytecna’s success is its staff, humility, drive to deliver and excellent solutions.

Fareham Facility Opens its Doors for a Fantastic Event!

Last Updated: 16.06.2009

The opening of the new Dytecna facility in Fareham was another triumphant success for the ever expanding engineering company. With a guest list boasting attendees from the MoD, the defence industry and across business, the 80 delegates experienced hospitality offsite as well as onsite during the two day event of 3rd & 4th June 2009.

Wednesday 3rd June saw those guests who had an affinity for the water partake in a sailing event with two yachts enjoying a friendly treasure hunt from the Hamble across to Cowes and back; whilst those who preferred having their feet on dry land enjoyed the Gosport karting track or got to know some feathered friends through falconry. The day was concluded with dinner on board HMS Warrior. Guests were greeted by a live jazz band before being led down to the gun deck to dine amongst the cannons. Vice Admiral Rory McLean, previously commander of HMS Fearless and HMS Invincible, gave a very entertaining speech at the end of the meal which brought the day to a close.

Thursday gave delegates the opportunity to find out more about Dytecna as a company and to understand in some detail the nature of just a few of the many areas the organisation is involved in such as vehicle integration, shelters / simulation and armouring, through life management and research and development. With an approach of question and answer sessions rather than straight-forward presentations, attendees were able to make the most of this opportunity. The whole event came to a close after a buffet lunch and tour of the facility in Fareham where Brigadier Ian Simpson, Head of Combat Wheels Group, officially opened the site.

Dytecna Develops its Capability in Power Solutions

Last Updated: 14.10.2009

Dytecna’s capability in providing its customers with Power Solutions has been enhanced to include Power Generation.

Increasing levels of technology and equipment fitted to Vehicles and Platforms escalates the demand of the on-board power systems. With Dytecna Systems Engineering intelligent power management and switching technologies, the use of available power is optimised and operational functionality is maintained. This existing Power Management and Control capability has now been expanded to include Power Generation technologies.

After months of research, due diligence and negotiation Dytecna have successfully acquired a new business to join the Dytecna Group. APM (Advanced Power Machinery) is an Australian company manufacturing Ground Power Units (GPUs) – large generators used in the aerospace industry to provide power to planes whilst on the ground and to start their engines. In Australia APM are the leading supplier of GPUs with customers including the Australian Air Force and Qantas, and will continue to supply the Asia Pacific and US markets. The Australian site will also provide Dytecna with a capable manufacturing facility increasing the type of business that Dytecna Asia Pacific can offer.

The acquisition also brings benefits to Dytecna in the UK with plans for Dytecna Systems Engineering at Welshpool to manufacture and support GPUs for the UK, Europe and Middle East markets. The APM product range, which will be branded Dytecna Power Solutions, will open up the Aerospace market for Dytecna and provide extensive Support opportunities. “This is a unique opportunity for Dytecna to gain access to wider markets and increase our product range” said John Fulford when announcing the acquisition.

A formal announcement was made in Australia at the Avalon Airshow on 10 March. The European launch of Dytecna Power Solutions is planned for June, during the Paris Airshow.

With an impressive portfolio of products, strong order book and global market opportunity this is a valuable addition to the Dytecna Group.
