Initial Provisioning (IP) is an integral part of the Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) environment. IP is the term used to categorise the activity for providing parts information for equipment and spares on projects supplied by the defence industry to ensure that they are fully supported through their in-service life. Initial Provisioning also encompasses the NATO codification of equipment and spares which forms a vital part of the ILS process. Once the Reliability & Maintainability (R&M) and Level of Repair Analysis (LORA) have been agreed by the MoD/Service User and OEM, the IP process can commence.
