What is NATO Codification?

The NATO Codification System (NCS) is the biggest and most complete codification and cataloguing system in the world. 54 countries are members of the NCS and share the data contained in its 16 million NATO Stock Numbers (NSN) inventory with 31.3 million part numbers and greater than 1.4 million manufacturers and vendors.

• For equipment to be supportable when units deploy it must enter the military supply chain.
• For an item of equipment to enter the UK's military supply chain it must be codified.

Dytecna Codification Support

As of April 2007 Dytecna resumed its contract with the UKNCB as one of its 4 codification prime contractors. This Dytecna service is provided to industry and defence organisations to categorise and codify spares support inventories to enable effective management.

Screening and Item Identification

Dytecna can provide full screening of Item of Supply Information System (ISIS) to accurately identify items already codified. This activity is essential to drive down the costs of the codification process for the prime contractors.

Acquisition and Validation of Source Data

Dytecna provide support to industry in identifying and acquiring accurate source data vital in ensuring the codification process is carried out on time and within budget.

Project Management

Dytecna can advise and project manage the full codification process on behalf of prime contractors. Our expertise can reduce the risks associated with the codification process leaving the prime contractors to concentrate on the overall Project Management.

Liaison with UKNCB

With its long established and recently strengthened working relationship with United Kingdom National Codification Bureau (UKNCB), Dytecna is able to liaise on behalf of the prime and sub contractors on all codification issues. Our experience and relationship with UKNCB ensures best practice.
